BAND CAMP

All band, percussion, and color guard members must attend summer band camp(s) to be admitted into the field show for the fall semester. We perform shortly after the school year starts, and it is very difficult to catch up after missing 100 hours of instruction!

All students must bring a 1-gallon Coleman water jug and wear a hat, tennis shoes, and athletic clothing. Students without these items will be sent home for safety reasons. The El Modena Vanguard Band runs on time, so arrive early with all necessary materials.

STUDENT DONATIONS

Each student in the program is asked to contribute $300 (fair share) for the fall season. This pays for operating expenses, including instructional staff, instruments and equipment, tournament fees, music copyrights, and much, much more. Specialized instruction inspires students to keep at it, a skill they can apply to their other classes. This donation can be paid all at once, or can be broken down into a payment schedule.

We accept checks payable to "EMVBBC," cash, or you can make a donation online (TBA).

ENSEMBLE PLACEMENTS

All winds will be evaluated for ensemble placement (Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band). Students will be asked to play scales, warm ups, a prepared etude, and do sight-reading.

If you’re interested in Jazz Band (sax, trumpet, trombone, drum set, piano, guitar, bass), let Mr. Nuño know when you have your woodwind or brass placement. Remember, attitude, and improvement are also a factor!

Percussionists will be placed into percussion class and assigned to perform with any of the concert ensembles (Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, String Orchestra, or the El Modena Philharmonic) based on their abilities.
