JAZZ BAND

The Jazz Band is a performance-oriented ensemble designed for serious, dedicated musicians by audition only. Students get a "real-world" experience playing challenging music, and are introduced to a wide array of music including big band, swing, bebop, Latin, funk, and rock.

Students complete the course with a higher level of performance skills and musical knowledge. The Jazz Band plays at concerts, festivals, and gigs throughout second semester.

Let Mr. Nuño know if you are interested in auditioning for the Jazz Band. We have instrumentation for alto sax, tenor sax, baritone sax, trumpet, trombone, piano, electric guitar, electric/upright string bass, vibraphone, and drum set. Students must already posses basic sight-reading skills and musicianship.

All students must enroll in the Marching Band (Course P780 PE or M771 no PE) and a Core Ensemble class (Course: Symphonic Band M720, Concert Band M710, String Orchestra M740 or Band Drum Line M772 ) to participate.
